Hello Again

Sorry it has been a few days since I have been on line.  Busy catching up.  Last night at my Quilt Guild meeting we had a guest speaker who is from a small town in North Missouri.  As it happens she is from the same town my father in law lived.what is amazing is the town is so small that many years ago the Mayor was a Goat.  The 4 legged kind.  Back to her talk.  She had her mother’s diary where she wrote in it daily. This diary is the inspiration for some quilts.  Here is her site if you want to check it out.  www.prairiemoonquilts.com

Find #2.  A man I went to school with is making hand turned wood seam rippers.  I have ordered one from him and can’t wait for it to get here.   He does these and the cost is only $20 US.  I can’t wait.17308998_1377931075592581_2793995074136154128_nI am so excited….

Have a fun day.

Snowy Saturday

Good morning from a cold 28 degrees Snowy day.  This has been a crazy month for weather.  A few days ago it was in the 70’s and now snow today and a chance of sleet, ice, and snow on Sunday night into Monday.  We have a Granddaughter’s 17th birthday party this afternoon and other than that I am not getting out.

Have been working on the prom dresses and they are two pieces each.  Daughter bought 20 inch zippers instead of 9 inch.  Guess the dresses are on hold for today.  Not bad, will be working on craft items.  So many ideas.  So little time.  Stay warm all.

The Winner isssssssssssssssssss

Jessica from Unmeasured Journey.  Congrats.  Send me your info and I will get this in the mail.  Thank you for all who have entered.

Today I am so sore, I think after exercise today (reason for being sore, going to the gym) I will rest the legs and abs and do some sewing.  With the storms we’ve had this past week, our yard is turning a pretty green. With  this said sitting at my sewing machine watching the birds and squirrels is the place for me.

One project down

Got this cute Ugly Duckling little hanging project finished.  IMG_20170306_103716870.jpg

Now play time is over and I have to get to work on 2 prom dresses.  Prom is next month and with 2 of the 3 granddaughters wanting me to make the dresses, I will be working on that.  The reason for me making them is 1) they want something very specific, 2) can’t find what they want at the stores, 3) I can take their 3 or 4 dresses and put them into 1.  I will post the progress of these dresses as we go.

NOW just a reminder of our giveaway.  Respond to this email with a Hi or hello and you will be entered.  This is what you can win.

5 inch square pack of island batik, 2 patterns, threader and Missouri Star Quilt key chain.

Thanks so much for making blogging so much fun.

Fun day

Today was a great day 25ish ladies who like being creative.  What could be a better way to spend the day.  Saw many wonderful new ideas and had fun at mini retreat.

I think tomorrow I plan on making a casserole carrier.  So much fun in one day.  Tomorrow I will get some bread on to rise, do some sewing and then take the grand daughter for a walk if weather permits.

What are your plans for this weekend?

Don’t try cutting out a project when having windows replaced…

Definitely not a good idea.  We are having our windows replaced and I am loving them.  DON’T  start trying to cut out specific measurements when men on ladders are outside your window…I had to re-cut 2 sets of squares because my attention was on a pair of legs out my window.  Did not measure right.  What should have been 9 7/8 turned into 6 7/8 and then 5 1/2, ended up 3 1/2.  I told my husband that I thought about taking a picture of it and then decided it would not be appropriate.

I was so intent on what I was doing that seeing legs all of a sudden got the attention.   I then thought “This would make a funny wall hanging”.  I think I may have to draw it out to see how it would read.

Will have to see how the rest of the day goes.

Throw Back Thursday

While doing some moving things to have new windows installed, I came across this.  It has been on a shelf for a while.  When the Johnny Depp’s version of Alice In Wonderland was coming out a sewing club I belong to had a challenge to make anything related to the movie.  Here is my version of The Tea set that you may find in Wonderland.img_20170302_103058749IMG_20170302_104527.jpg Teapot, a couple cups and a little gift for the party.  This was so much fun.

Don’t forget to say Hello or Hi to get into the Giveaway.

Giveaway

While out shopping the other day I found these for a Giveaway.  IMG_20170227_084334379.jpgTwo patterns, a set of threaders and a Missouri Star Quilt keychain.  This will start on March 1st and go thru to March 7th.  Thinking of adding a few other items, between now and the first.  I will post any changes.

Yesterday before Son and Daughter in law came over I made some of these flat iron cases.  I like these better than the first.  IMG_20170227_084401872.jpgIMG_20170227_084414836.jpgIf hot when put away cord goes in back pocket.  It not hot then you can carry your comb/brush in the back pocket.

More to come.

What time is it? Time for a give away.

Getting some wonderful items together for a March giveaway.  Just a little tease.  On Monday I will post what the giveaway will be and how long.

As far as today it is cold out doors and I will be staying in.  Hopefully in the sewing room.   I have my fabric picked out and pattern handy so I will start working on my Kaleidoscope quilt.  Pictures of fabric yet to be come. Then pictures of the progress.

For now I am in need of suggestions.   I was given 8  12inch finished blocks of Hawaiian prints.  What could I do with them?  They are pretty, but I don’t have any of these fabrics to make a whole quilt.  Suggestions?
