As I am sandwiching my quilt so I can quilt it a few question popped in my brain. (Seriously this happens a lot then ends up wondering if I am doing wrong). Do you have a favorite way to sandwich your quilt? I have found out that spreading it out on an 8ft folding table makes it easier on my back than the kitchen table. Pumpkin thinks it is for her if I spread it on the floor. (Silly pup) Next I pin it together and am ready to take it to the sewing machine. Next I baste stitch around the edges before I start quilting. What is your favorite way to prepare to start the quilting on your new project? I am always trying to find different ways to do this. You may have a better way to do this with less steps as I am doing now.
Now I am starting the quilting process. for my 3D quilt I am stitching lines in the shadow colors.
Need to decide what to do in the small areas. We will see what I decide later.

Here is my method:
1) if large quilt send to long arm quilter – ha!
2) But for medium or small quilts I iron the backing and quilt top with a little starch to make as crisp as possible. Then I lay the back on a table and sometimes use binder clips (perhaps stolen from the office I used to work in many years ago, ha!) to hold it taut. Then I add a little bit of the basting spray (to help keep in place) and then lay the batting on. A little more basting spray and I put the quilt top over it all and slowly spread it out to make sure smooth. Then I safety pin it all down.
