Happy Belated Mother’s Day

Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out here.  I truly hope your day was all you wanted it to be.  Heard from my wonderful siblings. We heard from all the kids and our son and daughter in law came over for a visit and then an afternoon of sewing.  The very best of all worlds.

Today will be a rainy day and so I will spend it cleaning the house(gotta get the work done before I play. Actually just vacuum, and do laundry.) Then either work on genealogy, or work some more on a few last minute craft fair projects, or work on my Split Rail Fence quilt.  Tonight is Quilt Guild Meeting and I am looking forward to tonight’s meeting.  Our Guest Speaker is Linda Bratten.  She will be showing  thread painting.  Sounds like so much fun and something I have been interesting in.  I will let you know how it turns out. Check her out.  http://lindabcreative.blogspot.com

What would you say your big plans for today will be?    I do enjoy hearing what everyone is up to.  Have a wonderful day.

Hello again

Good afternoon all.  Well here I am again.  Today I have been working on a split rail fence quilt and I am about 1/5th the way done.  Rows 5 of 25 together.IMG_20180512_095717583I did get a few breaks in today and finished the Birthday gift.  I need a few finishing touches.  img_20180511_1521000871512996663.jpgGot the black border on and hangers.   Feels good to be getting back on track again.

Tomorrow will bring finishing tea towels and then try and get more done on the split rail fence.  Plus Mother’s Days.

What are your plans for Mother’s Day?  Me?  Sewing and spending time with hubby.  My kids all have their own families and will spend time with them, I think.  We will see.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

So many wonderful things getting made.

We are ALMOST as busy as Santa’s little Elfs getting ready for Christmas.  We have only a few weeks left for the first Craft Fair and I keep thinking of more and more things to make.  Alicia is busy making these cute crocheted babies.cropped-img_20180319_085019188929873380.jpgGranddaughters tell me their house can get kinda creepy with crocheted body parts all over the house.  At Mary’s house bath bombs, soaps, and jewelry with herbal oils  are in the process.  At my house pillows, quillows, tea towels, aprons, table runners, quilts and anything else I can think of out of fabrics.  Then down in my basement are puzzle boxes and some beautiful woodworking being produced.  IMG_20180504_075522831IMG_20180504_075049335IMG_2335DCP_0640BeFunky CollageSo much fun and  chattering going on.  While all this is going on we will be starting a small remodeling project.  We have been wanting to have our washer and dryer on the main floor instead of the basement.  We are having someone move it upstairs so my poor ole knees a break from the stairs.  Can’t wait to get it all done.

I have taken a break from craft fair making to make a birthday gift for a very good friend of my mine.  We have been close for over  yrs.  She is an artist and calls her studio “Dragonfly Art”. I am making a wall hanging welcoming people to her studio. img_20180511_1521000871512996663.jpgStill working on it, but it will be ready for her by Wed, her birthday.

Well it has been great just jabbering away so have a wonderful day.  Do something fun,

Good Morning Blogging Friends

Such fun things to do and make.

This next few weeks are full of ideas.  I am making a very special gift for a friend of mine.  She has been by my side for the best and worse of time for over 20 yrs.  She turns the big 65 in a few weeks and so I am working on a special one of a kind wall hanging for her art Studio announcing her art.  Then I have joined a challenge for May.  We are opening a magazine to a specific page and make  something that inspires us from what is on that page.  This is with a Facebook group.  Friends of Farmhouse Quilts. Monique also has a blog https://farmhousequilts.blog  She is wonderful at keeping our creative juices flowing.  I will post a photo of the page once I decide on a magazine.  Most of mine are quilting and so I am trying to decide between a garden magazine or a travel magazine.  I may have to go to Barnes and Nobles and check out some magazines.

The last challenge we had was to be creative with stamped images.  Monique sent some stamped fabric to us.  I didn’t get mine finished, but this is as far as I got.  It is hand embroidered and made into a coaster size block.  I am going to hang them on my wall in my sewing room.

I have enjoyed this so much that I am going to try do more of this.

Just for fun.  About a week ago I took granddaughter to the park and forgot how much fun just walking with and watching life thru innocent eyes can be.

Enjoy today to the max.

Did I Do This?????????

Can’t believe I was as productive as I was yesterday.  Finished 2 aprons.  The green one is from Sew 4 Home and was fun to make.  Gave me ideas for other aprons.  IMG_20180504_075337393IMG_20180504_075049335I do think this is my favorite.  The colors didn’t show up well but they were a celery green.

Then out of the left over fabric from the green apron I made a bed pillow.  As someone who loves reading a good book(for the most part a paper book.)  For someone who reads I love my bed pillows ( I think I will call it book pillow) I can set the book in the pocket when wanting to put the book away for a while.IMG_20180504_075355358

Then I made a few tea towels. IMG_20180504_075431535IMG_20180504_075522831IMG_20180504_075535181 Today will be more tea towels and embroidery toilet paper as an attention grabber for the sale.

Have a great day.

TBT

Throw Back Thursday has been on my mind quite a bit lately.  So I decided to share some of the things of the past and then a little peek of what I will be working on today.

These start out with a Sponge Bob quilt and a Monkey quilt for 2 granddaughters,  the other 2 got a Rapunzel quilt and the other one got a Unicorn Quilt(not pictured, didn’t think to take a photo). The other two are attempts at thread  painting of a Live Oak Tree on the beach.  Then an angel on a bench, and Christmas gifts for our kids.  The first few quilts were made 16 yrs ago.  WOW long time.

Today I am making more aprons for the Craft Fair.  Only 30 days to make sure all is ready.  Today’s apron is the “Diamond Girl Apron” I found on Sew 4 Home.  So cute. Here is the website for it if you are interested.  //sew4home.com/projects/kitchen-linens/diamond-girl-apron   I am thinking of making potholders to match and sell as a set.

Well I have been up for 2 hours already and not turned the machine on so I guess I better get to work.  Have a wonderful day.

Pillows pillows pillows

Saw this saying on Facebook and decided it would look good on a pillow so here is a photo.  IMG_20180501_081219982 I need to fix the word Trust but that is a little fix.  I have a few more sayings to try on pillows.  Only 1 month till our first craft fair and this is when I panic about not having enough supply for the sale.  It is like having a large dinner and the more you look at the food the more you think you need.  I think I will concentrate on making 2 or 3 more items and about 10 of each.  Then it will be a month before the next sale.  Today will be the perfect day to sew.  There is a light slow rain and the windows are open.

I am thinking of making some pillow kits to sale.  May not be a bad idea.  I will have to see how it goes.

Any ideas for things for craft fairs?  I am always open for ideas.

See the beauty in each day.

Prom season is here.

The last few days have kept me busy making alterations to Prom Dresses.  I enjoy seeing the girls so excited about prom and dresses, pictures, and so on.  It is great.  Today I will make the last of the alterations to Cc’s dress and then wait to see their photos with hair done up and all their photos they take around town.

When this dress is finished I will be working on making a few more aprons and then finish the Split Rail Quilt top and then ready to do the quilting on that one and the South west one I have been working on.

Alicia and Cc and Alicia’s Boyfriend are out taking Senior pictures.  Mary is making some soaps and bath bombs.  Such a wonderful day in the world of One Creative Family.  Whoop whoop whoop.

Just thought I would share some fun Spring Time fun.

So many pieces

Have you ever loved a pattern for a quilt only to be bored while working it?  That is what I found yesterday.  I am working on a Split Rail Fence pattern.  cut 2400 pieces of 3.5×1.25 of fabric.  Sewing 480 blocks of 5 colors.  Was able to catch up on some shows I haven’t been able to watch and clean out some recorded movies.  Not such a bad day.  I am still excited about the finished look and hopefully tomorrow I will be able to finish all these little squares.  Pressing them will take a while, so I will be keeping that finished project in mind.

Spring has sprung in Independence, MO.  Yard is a beautiful thick and green and trees are starting to bud out.  I need to get out in my front wild flower garden and get the weeds out while they are still a few there.  I will be trying Hollyhocks again. I haven’t been able to get them to grow so I am hoping this year I can.  That will be today and maybe tomorrow we can get to the nursery to get some Columbine and herbs.  Such a beautiful day.

I am also working on making a one of a kind Quilt of Valor for my nephew.  He is the most amazing young man.

I hope everyone is enjoying their day.
