Crazy Days

For the next two weeks I will be working on making lots of Artist Portfolio Bags in 3 sizes. 18×20, 26×29, and 34×41.
These will hold several canvases.

While making these bags I have 20 bags for walkers and wheelchairs to make. So these days are very crazy. I will be leaving the sewing alone for the next 2 days as our Neighborhood HOA is having a neighborhood Garage Sale. I didn’t plan on selling anything, but one daughter is putting some stuff in so I will be helping her.

This is one of the bags we’ve made for when people purchase something from us at the craft fairs. Hope everyone is doing ok and having a great day.

One down and more to go

Yesterday the first Craft Fair and it was great. Weather perfect, sunny, in the 80’s with a breeze. Especially after weeks of rain. We did have to close up about 30 min earlier due to a storm coming in. Ashley made it home about 10 min from the venue and as she was unloading the car was hit in the head by quarter size hail. That was close.

We we set for the fair by what we sold the most of last year and was asked for. More items for kids and so we had more kids items. This year we were bombarded with request for adult bibs, walker bags, and wheelchair arm bags. So I came home and did some research for bibs for the elderly, but what I have found are oversize bibs. Not what I am looking for, so back to the drawing board. For the men I think the front of a man’s shirt and velcro in the back of the shirt collar, and something pretty for the ladies. Any ideas? I hate the idea of our parents, grandparents can be treated so undignified. I was raised with 3 generations in one home and Grandma was treated with respect no matter how forgetful she was. I won’t get on that soap box. That is what I will be working on for the next few weeks. We are also making about 20 wheelchair bags, and walker bags to give to an assisted living center.

Now to share some photos of our booth Saturday.

Caught Ashley walking around the corner

Have a wonderful weekend and hug a special someone.

Bags, bags and more.

I have been asked to make some more art bags. These range in sizes to hold canvases. To start there will be 3 that are 29×26 and are quilted. The others will be sizes up to 46×60. I have started this afternoon. Hopefully these will be delivered before the 6th of June.

Yesterday was Granddaughter #4’s graduation. Was wonderful seeing a little over 200 kids graduate. A beautiful day and a beautiful young lady.

Lots Going on.

Today is a day that I really like. This morning the stitches come out of the foot ,go to the Post Office, and then the Dentist. Yesterday I made a wrap for a friend who struggles to stay warm and is in a wheelchair.

Then I will be making some totes for the sale next week. I have finally gotten my mojo back and back to making.

Now I am going to leave you with a funny story. My son and Daughter in law decided to get a puppy (they lost their dog a few yrs ago to cancer). They decided to get an English Mastiff as they are fairly mellow dogs. This dog is 4 months and 42 pounds. He is adorable and has his own mind. My son will need to go to the gym if he keeps this up.

Then we got this post this morning from Ashley.

We took Jethro to the store and he decided he couldn’t make it back to the car bc he was too tired from all the walking. (The car was 5-6ft to my left)

I think they need to keep lawn chairs in the car so they can rest for a while. Way to go Puppy Jethro.

Have a funny day

A cold front has arrived today with rain. We do need some of the rain so I won’t complain too much.

A few months ago I purchased a Circut and have been toying with it until today. I spent the whole day watching Youtube videos and playing with it. Took me all day, but I made Destiny a t shirt.

Then decorated my boot to be silly.

Had fun playing with this. I will have to make some other things later.

Tomorrow I will see about making something else. Do a little better job on t shirts with the centering. Learning new things sometimes can be fun.

Are you learning something new? What is it?

A Big Funk

It has been a little over a week since my foot surgery and still have very limited use of it. Will have pins out the top of the toes for 5 more weeks. I can stand for about 30 minutes at a time and the rest of the time it has to be propped up. Hubby set things up so I can prop it up when sewing, but nothing is calling out to me. He took me to wander around a new quilt shop in town and it was like walking thru the grocery store. I picked up a charm pack and a yard of fabric still sitting on the cutting table.

What do you to keep from getting into these funks or to get out of the funk once you are , what do you do to get out of it?

Maybe getting outside and look thru some of my books will cheer me up. Sunshine is the best thing I can think of for now. It has been rainy for the last few days so this will be nice to soak up some sun. Thanks for listening to me grump. I appreciate you all so much. Thank you

Went to the Dr yesterday and I will be getting the stitches out of the foot next week. Will still have to stay off it for 5 more weeks. Hubby has arranged the sewing room so I have a chair to keep the foot on and still sew. I am getting spoiled and it has only been 1 week and so far no Housework. No laundry, no vacuuming. Just sitting and sewing, reading, and watching tv. I have caught up on everything I have been putting off .

I think this weekend I will start updating my quilting book of quilting motifs. Do you have a book or pieces of fabr6where you practice your quilting on? Have a wonderful weekend

A boot is a boot

This morning as I was hobbling thru the house feeling sorry for myself, I could hear my dad telling me his favorite quote. “I once cried because I had no shoes until I met a man with no feet.” Snapped me out of my pitty me mood and now I am trying to think of some things to do with one foot up above the waist. I am going to work on making a few bottle lights and then get the hand applique out again. I have about 3 more bottles to print sayings for and put on them. I love my Circut machine.

Speaking of my Circut yesterday everyone (except 2 granddaughters who were working and BMX bike racing) were over to celebrate Mother’s Day, and one Granddaughter came in and I told her I got a Circut and it was in the Sewing room. She came in looking and then went back into the livingroom and asked where was it and why did I have a “cricket” in my sewing room. I love that girl so much. Once she realized it wasn’t an insect she gave me her look of “Ok now I know you are crazy”.

I am going to be in this lovely boot for about 6 weeks or more and they are kind of blah looking. Right? Tomorrow Destiny and I will be finding a way to brighten it up some. Any ideas?

I think today will be an organizing day. Every once in a while I organize or reorganize my sewing room. Easier than rearranging the Livingroom.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week. Enjoy the little things. I look forward hearing from you.

Feet up and nothing to do

I have graduated from crutches to a cane. YEA! Still having to stay off the feet for a while longer. Or at least till the pins come out. I have several blocks completed and may have them completed within 4 weeks.

I would like to wish all the mother, and we include Petmothers in wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day.

This year we will be staying in town instead of taking a vacation. I’ve had foot surgery and am off it for a while. This is giving me time to go thru pictures of previous trips.

Hope you enjoyed a trip down memory lane..
