Thank You!!!!!!

Thank you everyone who had their own way of sorting scraps.  I have gotten lots of ideas and am ready to get organized.  I started last night and after about an hour I was calling it a night.  I caught myself putting it back where I had gotten it from.  Now I have a plan of action.  One basked at a time.  I have several empty shoe box size totes and labels to mark what I have in them.   I am on a roll.  I will post pictures of the finished project.  Just don’t wait up tonight for those pictures…You will be waiting a while.

I truly enjoyed all the comments.  Thanks again.

Need Stash Help

This morning I was reading a blog from https://catbirdquilts.wordpress.com/ and it brought a question to mind…How does one go about organizing your stash of fabric?  I have a large amount in different totes.  I try to sort by color, not quite right. By size, looks just piled up.  Seriously I am tired of all these odds and ends of fabric in containers that I did through when I need less than  1/4th of a yard. I started to cut the pieces into squares, then thought, “What if I need a bigger piece of that than a 5 inch square. What do I do with the extra from that square.”  Am I over thinking this issue?  I can’t throw any of this fabric out,  I may need it.  I do need help.  Any ideas? This is only a very small sample of the totes and baskets of fabric.IMG_20161026_130045800.jpg

Last 2 Craft Fairs of the year

Well I am ready for the last 2 craft fairs of 2016.  I have called it quits for the one on Nov. 5th  and have Jalapeno Pecan brittle, Pecan Brittle, and Peanut Brittle to make for the 18th and 19th sales.  Then it is all finished.  Or at least as finished as I call it.  I can always find new things to make.

We have PUMPKINS.  All sizes and colors.  img_20161025_071414These are so much fun to make.  Next fall my house will be filled with these…Never go bad, but then can’t make pies of them.

These wonderful little bags are fun, but not as much as the pumpkins.

Just give us a yell if you want patterns.

Sunflowers anyone?

Well got the sunflowers in the windows and working on the quilting.  This will be a gift for Christmas.  img_20161022_204926926

Hopefully it will be finished in a few days. So far I am just outlining the sunflowers.  I have  a twin size bed quilt cut out that is snowmen in the Attic Window  pattern.

Friday

My sewing table is full of fabric and batting waiting for me to get to work and make something. I have an order for Microwave Cozies.  All cut out and ready to sew.  I can find other things to do than sew.  Tonight our son and daughter in law invited us out to dinner.  Had some great BBQ and now I am now trying to will myself to sew.  I will get these cozies finished by tomorrow night.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend.

Thursday

I was working on a wall hanging of  Faith, Hope, and Love.  The more I worked on it the more I hated it.  It is in the way back of the closet and we will see if I get it out.  I had initially thrown it away, and then took it out and put it in the closet.  In a few months I will check it out to see if I still hate it or not.

Tomorrow I will see what new I want to work on.  Who knows… No one especially me.

From the top of Pike’s Peak, Colorado  Windchill -4, windy and cold.

Tuesday

Today has been wonderful.  Had to go to JoAnn’s for some quilt batting and then finished a wall hanging and started another.  Tomorrow even more sewing.  What could be better? Wait till you see what is in store for tomorrow.

Natural Bridges

While on vacation we went to Bryce Canyon and I bought a  pattern for the Natural Bridge that we saw..  While it is an ok pattern I have made a few little changes to it. Now I am thinking more of going thru all my vacation photos and making a series of these wall hangings.  They are 8.5 x 11.IMG_20161017_085013612.jpgIMG_3658.JPGJust starting on the stitching and quilting.  Now to try and capture the spirit of it.

Sweet Saturday

I am trying to work on an applique pattern I got from Bryce Canyon a few weeks ago.  It is not coming out to my liking, but we will see how it turns out.  I will be working on it tomorrow and hopefully it will come together.  I look at all my fabric and then I decide on a quilt to work on and guess what???????? I don’t like the fabric I have and want to get different colors.  Kind of stupid.  I guess it is a good thing I don’t own a quilt shop.  I would go broke.

Gift Card Holder

As promised here are the directions for making your own Gift Card Holder.

1.) Cut 3 pieces of fabric 6  1/2 inches by 4  1/2 inches                                                                            Cut 3  pieces of Peltex 3 1/4 x 2 1/4 inches

2.)Fold fabric in half length wise, right sides together.  Place a Peltex on top of the outside of folded fabric and stitch  1/4inch seam. img_20161014_162641312

3.) Turn right side out and stack the 3 pieces together. I use 2 different fabrics just for fun.  I have also used Plastic Canvas in the place of Peltex. Put Grommets or button holes in the top of the card holder. This will be used to pull the ribbon through.img_20161014_163727684

4.) Using embroidery thread stitch all 3 pieces together on each side and bottom.

5.) Pull the ribbon through the holes and then place your gift cards in each opening on the top. This pushes the ribbon down into the holder and to get the gift card out, pull the ribbons.

Enjoy.
