Our little, big town.

Independence, MO is one of those medium size towns in the midwest, but we do boast to 2 items. 1. Is the home of Harry Truman, 33rd President of the US. This is his home which he lived with wife, Bess, and daughter, Margaret. After their deaths, it was left to the Parks Dept and is open for tours. We also have the amazing Truman Presidential Library.

Independence is the starting place for the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon wagon trains. We celebrate this yearly the last weekend in August with a 3 day fair. Yummy food, entertainment, crafts(not as many as in the past) and a carnival. The rest of the photos are of some of our historic sites.
