Today, August 1st is week 1 of our Challenge month. Here it is ….UPCYCLE. Let’s take something ordinary and make something extra ordinary out of it. The two objects we chose are jeans and a shirt. For this we “borrowed” an old pair of jeans from my granddaughter, Emily, and a shirt from my hubby, Gary. What will you do with these? I think Alicia may try and upcycle the jeans into something wearable and unique. I will take the shirt and go for something a little more practical, daily use. What about you?
Time for a new craft
Last winter I crocheted and worked so much I developed tennis elbow and tendonitis, so no crocheting & in a brace for 3 months (on my right hand of course). I tried learning to crochet with my left hand but it has not been very successful.
Once my arm healed I was able to crochet again. That lasted only a few months and know my arm has started hurting again. I can not knit or crochet for long periods and I’m going nuts not doing anything, so I have decided to follow in my mothers footsteps and try sewing. Later today we are going to get together and go over a few things. I think my first project will be an apron, I may even make a challenge out of it.
A late start to a new year.
Well 2016 has started out with lots of changes to One Creative Family. My Mother in Law who did beautiful Needle work passed away in February. We’ve been trying to deal with our loss and what to do with her art work. We will be selling these items at the Strawberry Festival in Indep. MO, June 4th, 2016. If anyone is interested in purchasing one please email us.
Happy 2016.
Christmas Holidays are over and a new year is here. Starting the new year with a sewing studio filled with wonderful fabrics begging to be used, and a 4 1/2 foot puzzle on the kitchen table to be completed. Ok 2016 bring on what you have in store for me. I am set to conquer the worst and embrace the best.
New Project
I have been working on a Door Hanging for Christmas. I am having so much fun decorating for the Holidays this year. The first in a while for just hubby and myself. We are having fun. All I need to do is add decorations for the tree. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for my family and that the Lord has blessed me with good health and a wonderful family.

Kansas City Royals are back in town having won the World Series Championship. Way to go Royals!
I am ready for the craft fair at Fort Osage Upper Middle School on Saturday. Baby quilt finished and ready to get to the post office. Now I am thinking of 100 more things to make. Does anyone out there have that problem? Too many ideas in the brain? I am there. So I will post the next project when I decide.
Wednesday, Oct 28, 2015
Today is a day to work on a baby quilt. I am having fun designing and making this one of a kind quilt. We are having a dreary morning and then a sunny afternoon. KC Royals won the 1st game of the World Series last night with a wild and exciting 14 endings, won by 1 run. Let’s see what tonight brings. Glad I can sew and watch television together.
Monday, A bit overdue
Sorry, I haven’t posted in a few days. Some days are just crazy. Saturday we went to Waverly, MO and got apples. Gary and I made 12 pints of applesauce and 36 pints of apple butter. Now tonight I have to finish Cc’s Alice in Wonderland dress, and then start a new project. Gotta decide what.
Getting ready for Craft show on November 7th
Need cute quick pumpkins for Autumn? Try these…took only 30 minutes to make and you can get as creative as you want.
Now for the most used item that will be on the inventory for November These are microwave bowl holders. Put them in the microwave with the bowl, heat. You won’t burn your hands when handling the bowls. We use ours daily.
Microwave Bowl Holders
These are in 2 sizes. Cereal bowl size and mixing bowl size. Love them.
Happy Monday
Today brings clean carpets, yoga class, and now to make some Microwave Bowl Holders for the Nov. 7th craft fair. This one will be at the Fort Osage Elementary school. Getting excited. Only a few more weeks to finish things up. Found a good home for “Frankie and Stiena”. They are the last pair to find homes.
More picture of future projects in the future.
