As you know we are a family of crafters.  Mary(my Mother in law passed this year), did needle point.  Hubby, Gary, does woodworking, Alicia, does crocheting and starting to sew some.  I use fabric, love quilts and sewing of all kinds.  My newest project is the mini quilt, IMG_20161229_093450467.jpg

I finished it this morning at 5am.   Gary made a puzzle of our youngest granddaughter.  She is 2 today and she keeps wanting a puzzle, so here it is.IMG_20161229_093503570_TOP.jpg

She kept putting it together, and taking it apart.  I’d say she liked it.  My favorite of his woodworking is this…my-pictures019 the Light House Intarsia.

Alicia’s best project is this lovely sweater.img_0837-2

My favorite quilt is this one.IMG_2459.JPG
Hope everyone has a great 2017.

Found what I lost

Yesterday I couldn’t find fabric I was looking for and today I found it.  I am making a mini quilt to hang on a 12″ stand.  I am enjoying today a lot.  We are looking out at the sun and birds are singing outside my window.  Great day for sewing.img_20161228_130218993 In a few hours I will take advantage of the great weather and go out for a walk.

Where did it go?

Have you ever known you had a specific piece of fabric and can’t find it?  That is me today.  I wanted to start on a small project and woke up thinking I have that color and print I want and now beginning to think I dreamed it.  I will continue my looking.

I hope everyone enjoyed the Holiday you celebrate.  We had a great time.  Way too much food.  Sent lots home with everyone and still have more in the freezer.  We will pull it out when we get that unexpected visits.

Christmas Day was a warm drizzly day, but still a beautiful day.

What are your goals and plans for 2017?  I have 3 quilts I want to make and one will be hand quilted.  (This one may still be a WOP in 2018) I am not that fast.  So with that, I need to find that fabric.  I know it is here some place.

Thank you

I would like to thank you all for posting your recipes.  My daughter couldn’t stop eating the sugar cookies.  We celebrated Christmas with the family Wednesday and the chocolate chip, sugar, and snickerdoodles were a great hit.

I finished the quilt without corners and now looking to see what fabrics I want to work with next.  I do have one question for you all.  When on trips and purchasing fabric to take home, how much do you usually buy of each piece?  I bought a yard and for the most part a yard isn’t always what you need for quilts.  As an accent piece it is ok, but what is a good yardage to buy?  I did keep track of what I bought where so I can always order more if need be, but not having a lot of patience that isn’t always a good idea.  Buy what 2 yards of each?

Merry Christmas and a Safe New Year for all.

Happy Holidays.

What to do, what to do

Looking at my fabric stash and trying to figure out what quilt to make with what fabric. I was thinking of using some of the fabric I fell in love with on our vacation. Now to figure what goes with what and a pattern they would look good in. Why did I buy such big bold fabric??? Still they are bold.img_20161220_092650562Any suggestions?  Have you ever fell in love with fabric and then got home and thought.”What in the world were you thinking when you bought that?”  I still like the bold ones on either side, but not sure where to use them.  Will take some looking and thinking.

Winter is here

Woke up this morning to -8 degrees and is now up to -2.  Come on sun, let’s start warming up.  We got snow and ice yesterday and not as much as we thought we would.

So since so cold and icy this girl has the sewing machine going and working on a few projects.

I made these Microwave Cozies, dish rag, and pot holder for my Daughter in law for Christmas.  Now working on a tote bag for an Artist to carry her canvases to and from places.  Now to get to work.

Slippin and Slidin

This morning brought ICE.  I woke up and set out to my Saturday Morning Weight Watcher’s meeting, stepped outside and OH MY GOODNESS, my feet went one way and my body didn’t want to follow.  The ice on the windshield was about 1/2 inch thick.  The street out front of our house has a layer of ice on it and it is slow moving.  The roads were pretty good, but the parking lot was ice.  Not treated.  Got out of the car and before I could stand up I was dangling by my arms(I was holding on to the door frame of the SUV and my feet were up in the air. I ended up taking my shoes off and did a very ungraceful sliding walk in socks across the parking lot(more traction with socks than shoes).  I am glad it was 5:45am and not a lot of people around.  After the meeting it was about the same leaving and we looked like a group of beginner ice skaters giggling and hanging on to each other.  Now home and waiting for the snow to arrive.  Staying in today.

Be safe everyone.

Winter has arrived

This morning we got freezing drizzle.  It was light and not too bad, but tomorrow it hits.  SNOW all day.  Anywhere from a dusting to 5 inches.  Staying in and watching it snow is great and so pretty.

Tomorrow will bring me making 2 large tote bags.  The lady will be taking her art work from place to place.  She said the dimensions were 30×40 inches.  Once I am finished with those I will be project less.  Can’t have that.  Will have to get some stuff going.  Do you panic when you have all your UFOs completed?  I do.  Seems I have to be doing something all the time.  Didn’t used to.  Oh well such is life.

I will leave you with our Christmas tree.  Woke up at 3am today and when I plugged her in I couldn’t resist a photo.IMG_4062 (2).JPG
