The finish and beginning of things.

We survived the last of the craft fairs of the year, we did have a good time.  Yesterday and today have been busy washing table cloths(bad when they are so big you can wash only 2 at a time.  We had 8 of them.  All washed, dried, ironed, and folded up for the spring.  All craft items sorted and boxed up and put downstairs.  Yesterday my daughter in law was using my sewing machine, after a while she asked what the high pitch was.  I had son and hubby listen and today she was in the sewing machine hospital.  It is the zig zag motor.  This will be the 4th motor.  My machine company is sweet about it and it doesn’t cost me anything to get it fixed.  Under warranty for 8 more years.  It is frustrating. It will be 2 yrs in Oct.  Oh well what can you do?  I do have a back up.

Here are some pictures of our fair.

Now to find something to do over the winter…..I think I may find a few things to do.  I want to start dying my own fabric again.  l started playing with it a year ago and then stopped, now is a good time to start something new.  After Vacation.

Have a great day.

Something pretty today

This is a very short post today, but here it is.  These are the stages of my moon flower.  With windows open at night I get the beautiful sweet fragrance of it.IMG_20180921_081219401First signs of the little bloom, day 1 for this flower.

IMG_20180921_081210581Later in the day same blooms.

IMG_20180919_213155557 9pm open nicely.  When I turned the porch light on she decided it was daylight and started to close….Sorry Ms. Moonflower.

I think these are my 2nd favorite flower with Gardinias being the first.

Have a beautiful day.

One more day

We have just one more day till the last fair and Friday is calling for rain.  I just hope it either stops by set up times, or is a little drizzle.  With this said I am all ready.  Alicia and Ashley will be coming from work so Mary and I will set up and get things started.  I like this part so much because it is a time to visit with other vendors and catching up on their lives.   You do make some great people there.

Today I will be working on 2 bags and then getting some applique cut out for a quilt top I have been working on.  My goal (they are ever changing) is to come home from vacation with a sewing room without project waiting.  We will see if I can get this done.

Are your goals ever changing?

I must say I do love reading everyone’s blogs.  Thank you.

Another hot dry day

Today will be a hot and humid day and so I think an afternoon of playing in the water and mud will be in store for this Grandma and Granddaughter.  We will then have some very exciting games of Chutes and Ladders, Go Fish, Old Maid, Candy Land, and not to leave out Hi ho Cherry-O.  This will follow up with some interesting Play Dough and cookie cutter designs.  IF I am lucky we will take a nap and if not we will add some painting to the mix.    I will have to give this to Destiny, she always plays in my buttons, and threads, and sometimes my fabric.    Looking forward to teaching her to sew.

This is short and sweet so enjoy your day.  Find a way to bring some sunshine into your life.

Finished at last

I finished the Dragonfly quilt today and it is ready for this weekend.  I just hope the rain arrives early or 2 days later than being called for.  But we will survive and continue on to the next year.  Here are a few things that are new to the sale this year.  We are excited to share.IMG_20180319_085019188IMG_20180602_130310456IMG_20180910_120349799IMG_20180917_125425054IMG_20180917_125432638

The quilt got finished today.  Now I am off to clean the kitchen.  Be safe and keep the Carolinas in your thoughts.  They are dealing with so much.

Just days

It is only 5 days until the craft fair and as usual I am still working.  I had planned on being ready by now, BUT I seem to find that 1 more thing to make.  So finishing up the border and binding on the Dance of the Dragonfly quilt and then I will be done. Yesterday was a trial run at loading the SUV to make sure it all fits.  It does with room to spare.  That was a happy time when I could look at hubby and say “See it all fits just fine.”  NOW if anyone decided to rid with me then I am sunk.  Good thing I will be meeting Mary at our house and she is taking her car and Alicia and Ashley will be meeting us there.

In June I sent my nephew a Quilt of Valor and he just sent a photo of him with it.  He does fishing and hunting guide work in Texas and Alaska and has been gone since then.  He just got it and what a surprise he had.  His girlfriend sent me photos when he first left for Alaska. He never knew about it until my sister sent him a picture when she got it.  This is his first time to actually see it in person.  This young man amazes me so much.  41688282_720750908260271_834326268018163712_nThank you Ben, “Doc” for all you had to go thru for our Country.  Love you kiddo.

Have a safe week all.

Time to put the finishing touches on items for our Craft fair on the 21st and 22nd.  Today’s goal is to get groceries, make 4 batches of Pecan brittle, and work on quilting the dragonfly wall hanging.  I have lots to do today and tomorrow.  We are having everyone over tomorrow night for a BBQ and mock set up for the sale.  When we started our craft show adventure there were only 2 families involved so all was easy.  Now we are 4 families involved and double the space and when setting up it will be Mary and I so we want to get the best of it all organized.  I am one to make lists of lists to double check everything.

Once we are finished with this sale DH and I will plan what our next trip will look like.  As of right now we will leave for Houston about the 3rd or 4th of October, be there by Oct. 5th, funeral service for my sweet sister, she lost her battle with Leukemia in June.  Then we will go to Big Bend National Park and Carlsbad Caverns then heading to New Mexico, and Sedona, AZ. and not sure where else before coming home.  Gary wants to hit as many National Parks as possible and I chose the stops by quilt shops along the way.  Win Win.

This is one of the shops I found 2 years ago and am anxious to see again.  I am not sure if it is the building or what was inside that I fell in love with, but it is so quaint. IMG_2612 This little store was jammed packed with goodies.  It is on my list again.  What fun.

All of you who will be affected by Hurricane Florence, please stay safe.  Will be praying for your safety and minimal damage.

Dragonflies Galore

I have been working on my wall hanging of dragonflies.  I am now ready to sandwich and then quilt it.  IMG_20180910_120349799I am wanting to sell this at the fall craft fair.  Hopefully it will sell really well and this winter I am wanting to make some smaller wall hangings.  This has been so fun and rewarding.

The weather here has been wonderful.  In the mid 70’s and in the 50’s at night.  The windows are open with a nice fresh smell cleaning out the stuffy house.  I love this weather.

Well, back to the sewing machine, enjoy your day.  I am.

Destroy what I touched Day

Yesterday I had great intentions, BUT a greater force decided to test me and I gave up.  Decided to read a Ann Hazelwood book instead.  I was making a messenger bag and I ended up sewing it together was the first of mistakes.  I sewed it together UPSIDE DOWN!  So I ripped it apart and started again. After ripping it apart 4 times I put it aside.  So cutting out the Dragonflies for the wall hanging and today I will re draw, and cut and iron heat bond on leaves for 2 dragonflies.  I  ironed them on the wrong side of the fabric.  Throwing in the trash.  The book sounded safer.  What can happen tear out a page?  I can tape it back.  What I didn’t think about was getting caught up in it and looked at the clock and seeing it 2am.  I did manage to get up by 7am and ready for a new day and hopefully be able to get back on track.

Count on me letting you know how that turns out.  I will also have a few photos to show you on the new process.  I hope.

You have a wonderful day and not have too many “rip outs” today.

My Routine

I am happy to say I now have my routine back.  The life of One Creative Family has been turned upside down since April.  And I had nothing that looked like a routine and I hate this.  I am a very organized, routine, oriented person.  Now that this is looking to be the norm for a while I can get back to enjoying all I do and not dread it.  With that said I have started making a new wall hanging for sale.  I have had so many complements on Dance of Dragonfly that I am making a new one.  I am also making a bag for vacation.  Not sure what vacation will look like, but I am anxious to find out.  Here is the first Dance of Dragonfly that I made and will post a photo of the new one once I have all 5 Dragonflies made.IMG_20171231_094828812

Do you work better with a routine or not?

Do you like a date due for your projects?  I do, and I can get more made and not drag it out.
